Product details
Calder is a market leader in the design and manufacture radiation shielding solutions for healthcare applications. Our chevron ‘rail’ system is an industry standard, offering heavy duty lead shielding in high energy radiation applications such as in radiotherapy, oncology, PET/CT, and brachytherapy suites.
Lead chevrons are designed to nest together on all sides to form a complete shield with no shine paths. Available lead thicknesses range from 10mm to 50mm in lengths between 450 mm and 900 mm long, and as standard are 100mm high. We manufacture chevrons to a maximum weight of 26kg for ease of handling.
Where thicknesses greater than 50mm are required, chevron walls can be layered to any required total thickness.
Chevron rails provide additional flexibility as they can be fixed to existing brick or block walls or can be used to create a free-standing shield structure with a simple floor or wall-mounted support frame.
A major advantage of using lead instead of steel and concrete shielding, is that it can be quickly and cleanly assembled and just as easily disassembled when decommissioned.
The chevrons can then be either reused in another location or if clean can be recycled; a further service which Calder can offer.
